Matter Bio states that aging is driven by information loss at multiple biological scales over a lifetime, especially in the genome, where ongoing damage from external and internal sources can accumulate as missed errors such as mutations, structural variations, and epigenetic drift. The company says its goal is to protect and retrieve this lost biological information in order to slow and reverse key drivers of aging.
SourceMatter Bio states that aging is driven by the accumulation of damage to the genome. It says genomic damage from internal and external factors can lead to mutations, structural variations, epigenetic drift, and other forms of information loss, and that this DNA damage is a central driver of aging. Based on this view, the company aims to protect cells from damage, enhance cellular DNA damage repair, and remove corrupted or cancerous cells to prevent and treat age-related disease and potentially extend lifespan.
