Fluctuations mimic menopause response types
Full text
Menopause symptoms may look like fixed response types, but this hypothesis asks whether random bodily fluctuations shape who appears to respond to treatment.
It proposes one physiological drive that returns toward a shared baseline. A vasomotor event, including a hot flash, occurs when that drive crosses a threshold. Thermal inputs with the same average intensity but different variability over time should then change event rates without permanently changing a person's type.
Testing requires continuous symptom recording, frequent hormone measurements, sleep data, and randomized thermal inputs. The key test is whether a model fixed in advance predicts later events and treatment effects better than fixed labels.
