Overlapping updates transmit conflicting rules
Full text
This hypothesis asks whether cultural rules can conflict when two people update the same record. Memory can be accurate while shared rules collide.
Small communities would learn rules. Producers would read an older shared record, then issue individually valid but incompatible updates. In the serialized control, the second reads the first update before writing.
D_C would measure conflicting recalled pairs beyond predictions from partner learning, history, and recency. A residual only with overlapping updates, disappearing with serialization and returning when conflict returns, would support the proposed reconciliation mechanism. Human tests require matched replay and timing.
