Histamine prolongs skin heat loss
Full text
Researchers propose that a hot flash may keep skin losing heat after sweating stops, causing a cold rebound and renewed awakening.
At paired skin sites, drugs blocking histamine receptors would be compared with vehicle while humidity stays fixed and moisture is removed. A shorter tail of blood flow and dry heat loss with blockade would support this proposed local mechanism. Whole-body effects would need separate testing.
