Proposal compares skin repair strategies
Full text
This proposed study asks whether aging human skin can regain youthful resilience by repairing a few vulnerable collagen regions rather than rebuilding the deeper fat layer.
Collagen is the structural protein that lets skin tolerate repeated stretching. With 15 shared core changes held constant, the hypothesis compares targeted collagen repair in superficial and deeper dermal layers, while the hypodermis, the fat-rich tissue below, stays at baseline, against restoring the hypodermis while collagen damage remains.
Repeated-load performance, barrier recovery and mature-wound function would separate the ideas.
