Delayed uptake preserves complement inhibition
Full text
This proposed mechanism asks whether delaying neutrophil uptake, engulfment of immune cells, after EP2 suppression can aid recovery in muscle, heart, and lung.
It proposes delayed uptake preserves CD55-positive extracellular vesicles, cell-released particles carrying CD55, and maintains extracellular complement inhibition. Complement is an immune cascade that can drive inflammation and tissue injury.
With matched initial injury and confirmed EP2 suppression, delayed uptake should add recovery. That benefit should vanish after neutrophil-specific CD55 loss and return when purified CD55-positive vesicles are given. Testing requires vesicle phenotyping, complement activity assays, neutrophil fate tracking, inflammation time courses, and organ function tests.
