Sweat evaporation triggers cold rebound
Full text
Hot flashes during sleep may end with a chilling rebound because sweat left in bedding keeps evaporating after the body’s initial heat response fades.
This proposed mechanism can be tested by matching the first flash, then comparing brief humid air followed by drying with immediate drying while temperature and airflow stay fixed. A later heat-loss peak, cold rebound and more awakenings that track retained moisture would support it; no moisture-linked effect would favor rival explanations.
