Protocol Tests Ovarian-Cell Clearance
Full text
This proposed hypothesis asks whether young ovarian grafts may improve survival when recipient immune cells clear dying donor cells instead of relying on hormones from a living graft.
Its test compares an ordinary graft, a viable apoptosis-resistant graft, and a matched preparation of apoptotic ovarian somatic cells, the non-egg-forming cells of the graft. Surgery and steroid exposure stay equivalent.
It also disrupts efferocytosis, the uptake of dying cells by recipient macrophages, immune cells that help resolve inflammation. If apoptotic cells reproduced benefit and disrupted clearance removed it, that pattern would support this proposed mechanism over persistent donor hormone secretion. The study would track donor-cell fate, uptake, inflammation, function and survival.
