More Than 50 Historical Texts on Cryonics Collected on a Single Page

On August 30, Max More published a list of texts by Mike Perry in The Biostasis Standard. Perry writes historical accounts of cryonics, the preservation of people at low temperatures after death in the hope that future medicine may be able to restore them. The list connects the titles of these historical texts with their publication years and outlets. More placed Perry's work on other subjects in a separate section.

Perry published historical articles in Cryonics magazine, on Biostasis.com, and elsewhere. More compiled the subject, title, year, and publication outlet of each work into a single list. These details help readers find a specific text by Perry and verify where and when it appeared.

The collection includes texts about the people, organizations, and practices of the cryonics movement. It covers the history of Evan Cooper, one of the pioneers of cryonics, as well as the institutional history of Alcor, a cryonics organization. A series on New York examines the optimism preceding the first cryopreservations in 1966–1968, the cryopreservations themselves, and the decline of the local group. Other entries address protocols, patient storage, early films, and public criticism.

“I went through issues of Cryonics magazine up to 2009 and ultimately found more than 50 historical essays. I listed another 15 nonhistorical articles separately,” More writes.

In a separate section, More listed another 15 works, including texts on mathematical models, ischemia, which is inadequate blood flow to tissue, and the fixation of tissues with chemical solutions. Together with the historical essays, these works show the range of questions that Perry repeatedly examined in his publications.

More intends to continue the search and create a complete archive of cryonics history. The current guide allows readers to move from a topic to Perry's text, its publication outlet, and its date.
