Remedium Bio closes $10M Series A to prepare fat-cell protein platform for human trials
Lifespan Vision Ventures announced the initial close of Remedium Bio's $10 million Series A round; the funding will support therapeutic program development and preparations for first-in-human trials, with all published data from cell culture and mouse experiments.
Fat cells in mice received plasmid DNA carrying a genetic instruction and produced a therapeutic protein in subcutaneous tissue near the injection site for six months. On August 10, Lifespan Vision Ventures (Eternal Search page) announced the initial close of a $10 million Series A round for Remedium Bio, the company developing a platform called Prometheus based on this approach.
The mechanism: plasmid DNA, a small circular molecule carrying a genetic instruction, is packaged in lipid nanoparticles that deliver it into subcutaneous fat cells. The cells then produce the required protein on their own. Protein drugs often require repeated administration because the body gradually clears the supplied molecule; if cells produce the protein themselves, the need for repeat injections may decrease.
Because production continues for months, there has to be a way to reduce it. The injection leaves a defined area that can be targeted. In mouse experiments, the team tested three methods: cryolipolysis (controlled cooling of fat tissue), focused ultrasound, and a genetic switch called iCasp9, which triggers the death of DNA-carrying cells after a separate drug is administered. All three reduced production.
All published data comes from cell culture and mouse experiments. In a 2024 study, the construct reached approximately four out of five primary human fat cells in culture. The six-month production and all three reduction methods were tested only in mice. The $10 million will support development of Remedium Bio's therapeutic programs, expansion of the technology, and preparations for first-in-human trials.

The Remedium Bio Series A is anchored in Eternal Search through Lifespan Vision Ventures, the organization that announced the round; the news illustrates the gap between compelling mouse data and the clinical validation the $10 million is meant to fund, making the investor page a concrete handle on who is betting on that transition.
