William H. "Bill" Miller III is an American investor, fund manager, and philanthropist best known for running Legg Mason Capital Management Value Trust, which beat the S&P 500 for 15 consecutive years through 2005. He founded Miller Value Partners and has also been a principal owner of Patient Capital Management. Miller is a major donor to Johns Hopkins University, Santa Fe Institute, and Washington and Lee University, and serves on the Johns Hopkins University Board of Trustees.
