Robert L. Johnson is an American entrepreneur and investor best known for co-founding Black Entertainment Television. After Viacom acquired BET in 2001, he became the first Black American billionaire and went on to build The RLJ Companies, a diversified investment platform spanning hospitality, private equity, fintech, automotive, streaming media, gaming, and sports betting. He is also associated with RLJ Lodging Trust and RLJ Equity Partners.
