Leonard P. Guarente is an MIT biologist and aging researcher best known for work on sirtuins, NAD biology, and mechanisms linking calorie restriction to longevity. He is the Novartis Professor of Biology at MIT, directs the Glenn Labs for the Science of Aging, and has translated parts of that research into companies including Elysium Health. Reporting also describes him as an early scientific architect of the modern longevity field and a mentor to later figures such as David Sinclair.
